1. Low-quality Images
Images are so important when it comes to the representation of our business. When people see poor-quality images they may assume that we will provide low-quality products or services. High-quality images not only attract the customer but also reassure the customer that they’re seeing the real deal.
2. Unnecessary Text and Whole Paragraphs of Information No One Wants
We have a lot to say and are passionate about what we do, but anyone visiting our website may not be invested enough to care about all the details. Instead of turning off potential customers with cumbersome text, sticking to information that the customer needs will help us avoid this issue.
3. Not Having a Brand / Not Specifying Specific Brand Colors, Fonts, Etc.
A recognizable brand image is a powerful tool for online businesses. Too many times, we receive customers with little interest in the styles we use for their websites other than their personal preferences. Having a plan for creating a brand image tailored to your business values and your specific niche sends a message to the customer that you are professional, prepared, and modern.
4. Not Utilizing Your Website To Its Full Potential
When we have a WordPress website there is SO much we can do! I mean Online Shops! Blogs! Event Calendars! Organizational tools! and so much more! Don’t accept your website as just a landing page for internet passersby! Websites are a powerful tool and we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on it’s full potential!
5. Not Taking Design Advice
We all have opinions when it comes to what looks good! And we should! So don’t budge when it comes to your brand and desires for your website! That being said, sometimes it’s okay to let the professionals do what they do best! Listen to design advice and give it some thought.
6. Not Using Keywords
Keywords are imperative for an online business hoping to be discovered by its target audience! Include keywords so that when potential customers do google searches the words in the search bar will match the ones on our website and Google will retrieve it for them!
7. Not Being Detail-Oriented in Communication
Whether it’s giving instructions to your web developer or giving instructions to your customers the details are so important! We don’t want to leave anything up to the imagination and in the end disappointment.
